Election Night Open Thread

I've never done an open thread before, but I figure there's a first time for everything. Maybe we'll have some chatting, maybe we won't. Anyway, I see Anderson has his young republican tie on again. It's funny because it looks like he's playing teacher to Candy and the rest. So post your voting stories, thoughts on the coverage, or reactions as the races get decided. I'll be popping in and out all night.

It cracks me up how Anderson will just suddenly walk away from people he was talking with. Like, "I'm done talking to you people."

That's one of the reasons I like Anderson- he doesn't mess around with that sort of stuff. You know, niceties and all that.

Right now, the forecast for Governor in AZ is the incumbent Democrat. And English declared as official language is passing :) Other than that, I don't know. I really want to know about the smoking ban here (Prop 201), but it's not on the list of Props that CNN is updating.

I gotta say, I'm a little befuzzled about that English amendment. I mean, what the hell? Why in the world would that be on the ballot? It's not like English isn't the language anyway.

Eliza,
I'm with you on the whole English language on the ballot thing? Okay I admit I'm Canadian but I thought English was the official language. What was the alternative? Spanish?

I think it's meant to be a diss on Mexicans. Seems kind of pointless and divisive to me. Just like when everyone freaked out when a group sang the National Anthem in spanish. I mean, how is that important? It's not like one group doing a really poor interpretation of the song is going to change our country. It's never not going to be officially sung in English.

I thought the coverage was really well done. I don't understand the English thing either. Now if it had been making the English language mandatory for certain things I could get that.
